| CONSTRUCTION SITE: SITUATION DESCRIBTION |
|
|
the construction site is the temporally work place where new buildings, reconstruction works, transformation or demolition of existing buildings, construction of roads, tunnels, viaduct are in act.
During the construction sites’ life the electrical material undergoes climatic and application conditions which could damage seriously user’s safety.
Therefore the choice of the product to use must be correct being aware of the following risks here bellow existing in all the construction sites.
- AVERSE CLIMATIC CONDITIONS Frost, heat, humidity, rain.
- WATER PRESENCE in the indoor work places (jets) or in outdoor work places (jets, puddles).
- INSULATION DETERIORATION of materials, strike danger due to damaging while breaking or falls, chocks or crushes.
- INAPPROPRIATE APPLICATION Acted by inexpert workers in electrical implant and undervaluing the electric risk.
- POWER DROPS Caused by the large dimensions of the construction site. Therefore it is necessary is to vary the number of users, the number of panels, of extension cords and finally bring to variation of the project conditions.

| CEI NORM AND TESTS |
|
Only CEI EN 60439-4 (CEI 17-13/4) norm complying panels are admitted in construction site. After this norm the panels are named ASC (serially constructed equipment for construction site). The norm requires verification of characteristics of the panels by means of individual and type tests.
- TYPE TESTS
These tests are performed on an example constructed after a pre-established constructive system. If the following panels are constructed after the same project, can not vary their tested characteristics. Description of the most meaningful tests:
- CORROSION RESISTANCE
The ASC equipment must resist to corrosion; tests are performed when the panel is functioning in different conditions (normal or in a very polluted atmosphere). Selectric’s panels can be used in both conditions - CHOCK RESISTANCE
ASC panels must resist to mechanical chocks, conditions responding to bumps during transportation of ASC on vehicle for long tracts. ASC must resist to impacts with mechanical devices present in a construction site (power 6 Joule).
- WIRING, ELECTRICAL OPERATION – INDIVIDUAL TEST
These tests are performed on each equipment after the assembly. By these tests there can be verified characteristics which can vary if assembly is erroneously acted or defective components are present in the same project.

| PROTECTION DEGREE |
|
The protection against contact with active parts, entry of external solid and liquid bodies, should be at least IP44.
Selectric’s panels have protection degree from IP44 up to IP65.
The first number is for the penetration of powder penetration resistance, the second one is for water penetration resistance. After IEC norm the degree of protection indicates:
| PROTECTION DEGREE IP |
| First number |
| 4 |
Protection against access of bodies with diameter higher than 1mm |
| 5 |
Protection against access of damaging quantity of powder |
| 6 |
Total protection against powder |
| Second number |
| 4 |
Protection against water squirts of all directions |
| 5 |
Protection against water jets with tube 6,3 mm |
| 6 |
Protection against water jets with tube 12,5 mm
|
| 7 |
Protection against water immersion |
|
| THE NORM REQUIRES DIFFERENT TYPES OF PANELS: |
|
After the function:
- INCOMING POWER FUNCTION
Suitability for the connection to the public net, to transformer cabin or to construction site PTO.
- DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION
Suitability for the distribution and protection of the electrical supply in the construction site through permanent cabling or through plug sockets.
- TRASFORMING ASC
It is a panel with power transformation units.

|
| THE NORM ENVISAGES TWO TYPES OF ASC |
|
- Transportable ASC (or not fixed)
Equipment to be used not permanently fixed in the same place; Its location can vary through time in the same construction site. When the equipment should be moved, it is disconnected from the power supply.
- Mobile ASC
ASC which can be moved on the workplace in the same construction site without disconnecting it from the power supply.

|
| ASC PANELS INSTALLATION |
|
All panels, except mobile ASC panels must be connected
by a qualified installer (technician) who issues at the and of the work a declaration
of conformity, as required by low 46/90 art. 9, listing the installed materials.
The installer must use instruments constructed after the most severe norms suitable for the specific conditions.
